ABOUT THE BOOK This semi-autobiographical memoir by Dale A. recounts his forty-one year flying career, his descent into alcohol addiction and most importantly, his thirty-two years in recovery. It is directed primarily towards individuals recovering from alcoholism, particularly newcomers to the AA 12 Step Program and those who are struggling with, or questioning the program's efficacy. The book will also be of interest to those with other addictions, family and friends of alcoholics and other addicts, family physicians, counsellors and the many other helping professions attempting to address the epidemic of addictions in our society today. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dale resides in Calgary, Alberta with Delia, his wife of 52 years. He retired in 2005 after over forty years of flying as a professional pilot, initially with the Royal Canadian Air Force and subsequently with Canada's largest airline. For half of his career he struggled with alcohol addiction, eventually moving into recovery with the assistance of his airline and pilot association. By combining the industry's support and monitoring program with the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, Dale now has over 32 years of grateful sobriety. Since moving into recovery, he has devoted his life to assisting others in their recovery from this devastating illness, at one time assuming responsibility for overseeing his pilot association's alcohol rehabilitation program for over 4,000 Canadian professional pilots. He hopes that his personal story will increase the public's understanding of this disease, and assist other alcoholics in their recovery efforts.HINT: SCROLL DOWN ON THE HOME PAGE OF DALE'S WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO INCLUDING WHERE TO PURCHASE THE BOOK ********************************************* |
